The First Ten-Run Streak!!  You and your child did it!

You have been listening to a Mandarin learning album 10 days in a row.

Your child has been watching a Chinese program for children 10 days in a row.  You get the idea.  This event has become a part of the daily activity.  Parents are always the facilitator for the daily program.

What I’ve seen in the families who have been coming to the Storytime is that fun doesn’t mean easy.  I’ve noticed how kids are willing to follow along even when the story is somehow challenging.  Kids come to listen to stories, sing songs, and play in the target language, Mandarin.  It is a playful community for parents and kids who are learning Mandarin as a second language.

Congratulations!!  The session on May 22 (2021) marked the first ten-run steak counting from the first one in March!

This bilingual Mandarin Storytime with Miss Panda continues in 2021 and you can join in every Friday at 4:30 pm (EST/NYC) at Miss Panda’s Channel.

Together is better when kids are playing and learning.  With this Storytime community, your kids are playing in the target language (Mandarin).  Your child is no longer the only one who is acquiring Mandarin.  Children come to Storytime to play.  There is a group of kids joining your child in the playing.

Playing is learning.  At the storytime, we play with a purpose.

Over the years, I’ve worked with children on four different continents.  I taught in local schools, international schools, and private programs.  I taught English and Mandarin.  Most of the parents of my students didn’t speak or had limited proficiency in the target language.  But, they sought trusted resources.  Such as schools, programs, or teachers to help their children learn and acquire the target language.

One thing they all had in common was consistency.  They made sure their children were receiving the target language input daily.  It is like the activities you have been doing with your child at home with Mandarin.

Parents rarely receive compliments for the hard work they do.  Here I want to give you two thumbs up for the first ten-streak in the Storytime community.

There are many more ten-streak to come.  It is where you will see the progress in your child on your family’s bilingual journey.  Write it down.  Celebrate with your child and your family on each ten-run streak. Be proud of what you have accomplished.

Join me again for the next ten stories and beyond.

If you are just starting on the journey keep it going. I am looking forward to celebrating with you and your child!
