Everyday Chinese Summer Is Very Hot.

Seasons.  It is a topic that everyone can talk about every day.  This is a daily routine for many preschool and kindergarten.  It is a conversation topic even with a stranger.

Well, when it is 33C° (92F°) I think we can have some cold drink and talk about the weather with our kids.  I took the kids to a hike a few days ago right after noon time on a hot summer day.  The hike was not a challenge but the weather was.

The view is gorgeous but the heat has made some impact.

Summer time is the season for water fun.

How about a play date by the pool?  Time for ice cream.  How about having a pool party in the yard with the hose and water?  The playful Chinese opportunities are everywhere.

I always tell my big kid students that the Chinese language is visual.  It is not the Chinese characters I am referring to here.  It is the verbal expressions that people use on a daily basis.

When the weather is extremely hot you might hear the Chinese expressions of  “rè sǐ le 熱死了。- 热死了。”  Its literal translation is “hot to death.”  It is an expression Chinese people say to peers.  Young people use this expression more than grandparents.

Can the weather be hotter than this expression?  I don’t think so.  Just visualize this, “rè sǐ le 熱死了。- 热死了。

Here are Everyday Chinese Summer Is Very Hot and some fun and visual expressions in Chinese you can use on a hot summer day!

What expressions do you want to start using with your child on the list today?
