Everyday Chinese Compliments for Kids | Miss Panda Chinese

Everyday Chinese Compliments for Kids, we are looking at 10 commonly used expressions that you can use with your child.  These are short and sweet.  You can use them when the kids are doing a good job of putting on the clothes, shoes or getting ready to go out with you.

There are many different ways to praise children in English.  However, in Mandarin, you will see some repetitive words in this list of compliments.  The expressions I have picked are often used among parents and peers.

The expression, “awesome. lì hài! 厲害!- 厉害!” can be used in a positive or negative way.  That is an interesting part of the Chinese language.  The context of the sentence is important.  At this time, you don’t need to worry about it.  It is all positive here.

As you give a compliment to your child when she puts on her shoes the first time, for example.  You say “You are awesome! Nǐ tài lì hài le!”  It is a 100% positive expression.

Use a couple of these expressions whenever you can throughout the day.  If your child is old enough you can ask her to give you a compliment in Chinese.

Learning a new language is a lot of fun when you have a learning partner.  This is a post with audio!
